USS Kitty Hawk and other Events

The USS Kitty Hawk anchored successfully yesterday near Lantau, after the infamous last minute rejection from Beijing during last year's Thanksgiving celebrations (see earlier Blog).
Hong Kong is the last foreign port call before the ship will be decommissioned and replaced by the USS George Bush by the end of this year. Some 8.000 crew members will be roaming around the City meaning, we will be staying mostly at home ;-)

The second big event will be our first dragon boat warm-up race in Stanley tomorrow and the AWA Globe Paddlers intend to kick ass - we've practiced hard, are bruised all over in the meantime but can't wait for the competition - let's see where we end up.

The third and major event will be the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay with 120 torchbearers throughout the territory - if you know Hong Kong and want to follow the route click on

As you can see we've got a VERY HOT long weekend ahead of us, I hope, all of you too, ciao. R
